Enzo Irace

Growing up in Portland, guitarist and composer Enzo Irace developed an interest in music at a very young age. At the encouragement of his parents, he started taking guitar lessons at the age of 8. He began to learn about jazz music in the band program in middle school, which led to many invaluable experiences such as the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, Mel Brown Jazz Workshop, Port Townsend Jazz Camp, and studying with local guitar master Dan Balmer. Enzo enrolled in AJAM in high school, where he learned more about the history of jazz and the collective art of improvisation.

Enzo has been influenced by many types of music, most notably John Coltrane, Allan Holdsworth, Wayne Shorter, Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett, Ben Monder, Toninho Horta, Steve Grossman, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. He strives to create music that conveys clear emotions and stories, both imaginative of unknown worlds and reflective of familiar universal human experiences.

Enzo has had the opportunity to share the stage with such artists as George Colligan, Alan Jones, Kerry Politzer, John Patitucci, Darrell Grant, Jon Lakey, Christopher Brown, and Damian Erskine. He is a member of George Colligan’s Other Barry fusion trio, the up-and-coming septet Painted Mantis, and leads a group in performing his own compositions and arrangements.

Enzo teaches guitar private lessons as well as our Guitar Lab! Schedule a time with Enzo today and get groovin.
